QE Staffing & Scheduling Method Trial Research Projects The QE Foundation is currently helping health care facilities explore the QE Staffing and Scheduling Methods via trial research projects. For more information, please review the following: QE Trial Research Project Initiative for Nursing Homes The unique feature of the QE Staffing and Scheduling methodology is the synergistic creation of three-member staff teams who are grouped together as partners and given permanent ongoing schedules. Two team members work every day, and all three team members spend an equal amount of time working together during the schedule period. A key component of the methodology is the organization of the staff to function as high performance teams. (See: QE High Performance Team Concepts and Dynamics) In hospitals and long term care facilities, especially nursing homes, there is a staffing crisis and this crisis is not resolved by simply increasing the nurse to patient ratios. Solutions that focus on how well nurses are organized and scheduled to deliver care are better for quality patient care and cost effectiveness. The nursing home issue is addressed in the following article: Who Cares for Nursing Home Patients? . |
